DUBLIN, IRELAND, FEBRUARY 5, 2019 – Brock Solutions has announced the successful debut of SmartSort and SmartVision systems for Dublin Airport Terminal 2 and the Dublin Airport Authority (daa) after going live early this morning.
SmartSort and SmartVision are integrated Sortation Allocation Computer (SAC) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems used in the baggage handling system, which are part of Brock Solutions’ SmartSuite of solutions. SmartSuite is Brock Solutions’ proven and scalable centralized operational database and application platform, which is designed to enhance baggage operations and management for airlines and airports while improving the passenger experience.
For this implementation a key new feature for SmartSort headlines the go-live, called ‘BHS Map’. The BHS Map is a live 3-dimensional graphical representation of bags flowing through the sortation system. Additionally, SmartSort includes Auto Routing, in which the high-level controls monitor the BHS for faults and bag congestion and responsively routes bags through the system in an intelligent way.
The SmartVision HMI was built using Inductive Automation’s Ignition platform – one of Brock Solutions’ first deployments in a Baggage Handling System environment.
Terminal 2’s original system was able to continue operating simultaneously during the testing and tweaking of the new SmartSort and SmartVision systems to ensure seamless integration with no downtime and no impact to operations.
