Its mid-way through 2020 and the coronavirus continues to cause uncertainty throughout the manufacturing sector. In the first part of our VLOG we looked at the reactions of the manufacturing community to COVID-19. Today we’re diving into Operations Business Continuity and how this year has brought a new focus to it.

We’re seeing that the challenges manufacturers are facing today are unlike anything they’ve faced before. In particular, the ability to support the shop floor’s Operational Technology (OT), is under stress from many fronts. OT is a critical and often under-appreciated part of running the business, and it takes a holistic strategy to ensure it continues to operate. The silver lining for all of this though, is the steps manufacturers need to be taking for operations continuity in the face of COVID-19 are the same steps they should have been taking anyway as IT/OT convergence presses on and OT cyber security becomes a more prominent issue.
